The name Kenjou translates in Japanese as ‘sword like’ and also ‘strong fortress’ both meanings seemed very apt when deciding on a name for our club.

Shukokai karate is renowned in the martial art world as being a very powerful style of karate.
The club chief instructor is Sensei Glen Lynch 4th Dan who has twenty years experience as a student and over 15years experience
as an instructor.

We also have Sempai Mark Lewis 1st Dan as a club instructor. Sempai Mark has ten years experience as a student and is also very proficient as a karate coach.

All of our instructors carry valid professional indemnity insurance and are versed in the child protection policy

Both instructors have studied the powerful ‘Kimura Shukokai’ style of karate. Sensei Glen Lynch has been fortunate enough to have been taught on many occasions by the late Master Shigeru Kimura 10th Dan and as a result was awarded the prestigious rank of 'Shodan' (1st Dan black belt) Other top ranking instructors Sensei Glen has trained under include names like Shihan Eddie Daniels 8th Dan (who awarded Sensei Glen 2nd Dan and 3rd Dan), Shihan Lional Marinus (S.A) 8th Dan, Shihan Chris Thompson (S.A) 8th Dan, Shihan Bill Bressaw (U.S.A) 8th Dan, Shihan Tomyama 8th Dan, Sensei Wayne Otto O.B.E 5th Dan, Shihan Dave Sharkey 7th Dan      (who awarded Sensei Glen 4th Dan) plus many more senior Shukokai instructors.

All students are licensed and registered and more importantly insured. Policy details will be available on request.

This club is run as a community club whereby costs are kept to a minimum. Any monies made by the club will be re-invested into the club.
