The name Kenjou translates in Japanese as ‘sword like’ and also ‘strong fist/fortress’ both meanings seemed very apt when deciding on a name for our club.

Shitoryu karate is renowned in the martial art world as being a very powerful style of karate.
The club chief instructor is Sensei Glen Lynch 4th Dan who has over twenty years experience in martial arts and over 15years experience as an instructor.

All of the instructors at the Martial Arts & Fitness centre have attended the 'safeguarding children course' which is the revised 'child protection policy'. Also all instructors carry valid 'professional indemnity' insurance. policy's are available on request.

Sensei Glen has studied the powerful ‘Kimura Shukokai’ style of karate and has been fortunate enough to have been taught on many occasions by the late Master Shigeru Kimura 10th Dan and as a result was awarded the prestigious rank of 'Shodan' (Black Belt) Other top ranking instructors Sensei Glen has trained under include names like Shihan Eddie Daniels 8th Dan (who awarded Sensei Glen 2nd Dan and 3rd Dan), Shihan Lional Marinus (S.A) 8th Dan, Shihan Chris Thompson (S.A) 8th Dan, Shihan Bill Bressaw (U.S.A) 8th Dan, Sensei Tom Beardsley 7th Dan, Sensei Wayne Otto O.B.E 5th Dan, Shihan Dave Sharkey 7th Dan plus many more senior instructors.


All students are licensed and registered and more importantly insured. Policy details will be available on request.

This club is run as a community club whereby costs are kept to a minimum. Any monies made by the club will be re-invested into the club.
